Why Your Blogs Don't Rank

Updated: Feb 27

why your blogs don't rank

You've written a few blog post on your website and are now wondering why your blogs don't rank. There are a couple of factors that couple be affecting this:

Your Blogs Aren't Being Indexed

When you launch a new blog post you should get in the habit of entering the new URL into Search Console. You can find search console at https://search.google.com/search-console. Make sure to setup an account using a gmail account and add your website. At the top you will see a text box that you can enter the new URL created by your blog post and then request for indexing.

Also the platform you use can be why your blogs don't rank. Unfortunately Google will show more interest in a WordPress blog than say a Wix blog. I've learned from first hand experience using Wix that you can get the blogs indexed but it does take time, I'm on month 4 and search console is just recently looking at my blogs on a regular basis. You won't have these issues with WordPress. If I could do it all over again I would have taken the money I. "saved" by using Wix and simply created a WordPress website, that is certainly on the future roadmap for me.

Not Optimizing the Blog Properly

We covered this subject early in a post: How to Optimize a Blog Post so please take the time to go over that to see the best ways to optimize your blog

Competitive Topic

The last reason why your blog doesn't rank is the term your targeting perhaps is very competitive. It's one thing to discuss why rattan chairs are great for the living room its completely different thing to discuss fixing a leaky faucet. Both are informative and are searched for, one is searched for more than the other. Because of this many articles have been written because of the search volume, which means stiffer competition. There could be an article out there that provides every little detail spanning thousands of words. If you write an article that provides just the highlights that sums up to 350 words, its going to be tough sledding.

So when you think about an article to take on, read competitors articles, how much information are they providing? Look for things they perhaps miss and write an article of equal value but with more insight.

These are the things you need to consider on why your blog doesn't rank. Hope you found this article helpful and if you have any questions feel free to call or text.
